Local adaptation
While best practice should be universal, in reality some areas have more resources, face specific challenges or need to do things differently. The Map can be customised for local and regional practices and circumstances.
Localisation is possible on two levels:
- Administrative localisation - it's easy to add information like local guidelines, protocols, professional development opportunities, contacts for referrals, waiting times and other information to ensure a smoother patient experience
- Clinical localisation - options range from modifying information to reflect local practice to modifying steps or creating entirely new maps. Local clinicians can still access national guidelines and be alerted to developments in practice as they occur.
On an individual level, clinicians can personalise maps for their own needs. For example, they can add personal notes for future reference or provide feedback.
