The Map in the NHS

The Map of Medicine is being used by more than 50 healthcare communities, comprising over 150 organisations. Together, they have published more than 380 local care maps.

In March 2011, these healthcare communities published local care maps on the Map of Medicine:

  • Brighton and Hove published a paeditric service map
  • Derbyshire have localised their first care map, Heart failure
  • Leicester published Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Pleural effusion
  • Newham published Diabetes in children and adolescents
  • North Staffs and Stoke published an alcohol treatment map and six chronic musculoskeletal pain maps
  • Nottinghamshire published a headache map
  • South Birmingham published Acute Aural Discharge, Chronic Aural discharge, dizziness, vertigo, globus, rhinosinusitis, sore throat, tinnitus and tonsillitis maps
  • South Devon re-published Snoring/ Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) map to include new clinic information, as well as the hearing loss in adults. They also updated the Paediatric hearing assessment map. 
  • South West Hampshire published eight new maps and updated 24 existing maps. New maps included BCC, Limp in children and Onychomycosis and tinea pedis.
